FAQ

1. CHOOSING A TRIP

Packages are always available throughout the year but are subject to availability depending on preferred dates, destination and budget. However there are 2 types of trips.

  1. Scheduled trip– This are trips with set dates and definite departures mostly departing from Gaborone using road transport (13 -74 seaters) and there are usually around holiday months ; Easter time/ July Holidays/ Independence holidays and the festive season or expo /events dates.
  2. Tailor made trips – For any other time , we can tailor make trips according to taste and preference, be it on a Monday or odd month Not sure of which trip to choose or where to go? – Contact us.

All packages include all things that are listed in the quote and are quoted using a standard room. Our packages feature mainly transport, accommodation and, specified meals and selected activities. Some packages may vary according to client’s specification. Only meals indicated will be provided otherwise it will be own cost. Activities / items indicated as option will be own expense. Visas, travel insurance are included upon request. Note that you are responsible for your visa in countries you are visiting. Bring your own personal money on trips to cater for optional meals, activities, shopping as well as emergencies.

Travelling solo or alone is always pricy as cost are not shared and are borne by one person (airport transfers, hotel room and shuttle). This type of travel is common in people who don’t like back and forth group decisions and enjoy travelling alone and faster.

Travelling in a group is always cheaper as it makes a package affordable; shared transport, hotel group discounts. A group refers to 10 + people. With this option you can save more and enjoy shopping with saving. Group travel mostly use road transport and only a few use flights.

Travelling with a child: When travelling with children using bus transport , full bus fare is payable on every child that occupies the seat ( note that buses for touring and national route service are different). For flights it depends on ages of kids and a certain percentage will be payable at the discretion of the airline and prices are system generated. In hotels Kids under 12 years share a room with 2 paying adults and rooms may vary from standard – family rooms depending on occupancy and may come with additional cost. Children above 12 years get a separate room and normally we advise inter-leading room if available or rooms next to each other. Always check for public laws in countries you are visiting so you carry necessary documentation.

Meal Basis: Most packages include only breakfast unless indicated other wise.

Room Only (Ro) : means that no meals will be included in the price you have paid for your accommodation/holiday package.

Self Catering : no meals are included in the cost of your accommodation/holiday package, but you will be provided with catering facilities in your accommodation to cook your light meals.

Breakfast : Is the first meal of the day most often eaten in the morning. A full breakfast is a breakfast meal, usually including bacon, sausages, eggs, and a variety of other cooked foods, with a beverage such as coffee or tea.

A continental breakfast is a light morning meal that is provided by many hotels and motels. It traditionally includes bread products, fruit juice and hot beverages.

Half board : The daily provision of a hotel of a bed & breakfast and one main meal ( lunch or dinner). i.e – 2 meals per daymeans that your breakfast and evening meal is included in the price you have paid for your accommodation/holiday package. In some cases you can choose to receive lunch instead of breakfast – the hotel will confirm this upon arrival.

Full board: means that breakfast, lunch and evening meals are included in the price you have paid for your accommodation/holiday package.

All Inclusive :may vary depending on the accommodation). You may also be entitled to entertainment and non-motorised water sports laid on by your hotel. Please see the All-Inclusive section in the A-Z guide at the back of your holiday brochure for further details.

Dietary requirements :For any meal specifications always advise so we inform the supplier.

If you are travelling outside any country all passengers must be in possession of a valid passport and carry relevant health certificates. 2. BEFORE YOU DEPART

Travel insurance is highly recommended as it is an insurance that is intended to cover medical expenses, trip cancellation, lost luggage, flight accident and other losses incurred. while travelling either internationally or within one’s own country. Travel insurance can usually be arranged at the time of the booking of a trip to cover exactly the duration of that trip, or a “multi-trip” policy can cover an unlimited number of trips within a set time frame.

Coverage types

The most common risks that are covered by travel insurance plans are:

  • Medical emergency
  • Cancellation, curtailment and trip interruption

This section covers any unused travel and or accommodation costs, pre-paid charges (including any additional travel expenses incurred, provided they are deemed reasonable and necessary) if a trip is cancelled or cut short under a variety of circumstances, which may include any of the following, depending on the policy:

    • death, bodily injury, illness, disease, or pregnancy complications
    • compulsory quarantine
    • jury service
    • being called as a witness
    • termination of employment (provided you did not know about it before you booked the holiday)
    • being called up if you are a member of the armed forces or other public defence or safety organization
    • prohibition of travel by the government to the intended destination
    • officially recommended evacuation from the intended destination
    • official advisory against going to or remaining at the intended destination
  • Repatriations of remains
  • Return of a minor
  • Trip cancellation
  • Trip interruption
  • Visitor health insurance
  • Accidental death, injury or disablement benefit
  • Overseas funeral expenses
  • Lost, stolen or damaged baggage, personal effects or travel documents
  • Delayed baggage (and emergency replacement of essential items)
  • Flight connection was missed due to airline schedule
  • Travel delays due to weather
  • Hijacking

Medical expense coverage can be per-occurrence or maximum-limit.

Optional coverage

Some travel policies will also provide cover for additional costs, although these vary widely between providers.

In addition, often separate insurance can be purchased for specific costs such as:

  • Pre-existing conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes)
  • Sports with an element of risk (e.g. skiing, scuba diving)
  • Travel to high risk countries (e.g. due to war, natural disaster or acts of terrorism)
  • 3rd party supplier insolvency (e.g. the hotel or airline to which you made non-refundable pre-payments has gone into administration)
  • • Acute onset of pre-existing conditions
Common exclusions
  • Pre-existing medical conditions
  • Elective surgery or treatment
  • War
  • Terrorism – Most trip cancellation policies include terrorism but only when there is an act of terrorism that meets the policy’s criteria including definition, place of occurrence and date of occurrence.
  • Injury or illness caused by alcohol or drug use

Travel insurance can also provide helpful services, often 24 hours a day, 7 days a week that can include concierge services and emergency travel assistance. Pre-existing medical conditions must be declared prior to the trip start date. In case you ignore this requirement and fall ill during your trip abroad, you may find that you are not covered. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles to treatment in state-run hospitals in EU countries and Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland but it is not a substitute for travel insurance.
