TSABONG CAMEL PARK

2 N/ 3 D

Overview

The Tsabong Camel Park lies approximately 10km from the town of Tsabong. It comprises a fenced area of 3200 hectares lying just north of and parallel to the main highway. With a population of about 42 000 people, Tsabong is the capital of Kgalagadi District. The village has developed rapidly to have modern shopping centres, primary hospital, hotels and lodges as well as banks. Nonetheless, it still retains its rural outlook Historic buildings include the original wells, the first jail, District Commissioner and Station Commander's houses in the district (colonial era). There are a number of middle stone age sites in the area, but very little has been written about the history of the village. It also boasts an unsealed airstrip with the second oldest meteorological station in Botswana
